Sculpture

The problem for sculpture has been, of course, that the dog has no backside.  So, how does one make a 3-dimensional object out of a 2-dimensional image?  As you can see, George solved that problem in a very clever way. The concave design lends the sculpture its form, while showing the front side of the dog on each side.

Made of lightweight metal, the piece is durable and strong.  George hand-paints the entire thing (meaning that the sculpture holds three complete paintings). He then sprays the entire piece with an automobile clear-coat, making the finished sculpture weather-proof (barring a hail storm). Obviously it will be incredible indoors as well.

He's been working on this project for about 6 months and is pretty happy to see it all come together. He worked with a metal and machine manufacturing company for months on the approach, materials, design, etc, not knowing if his idea could work in reality or not.

The sculpture (THREE IN ONE) is 46 inches at its highest point and 25 inches at its widest.  It stands on a pole approximately three feet high (maybe a little higher) which is secured to a contemporary, heavy and flat base.  The resulting height is close to 7 feet.

He has ordered ten sculptures, all of which he will paint.  Although the shape of each sculpture is identical, each one will be painted different in some way (not to mention, they are all painted by hand, making them each unique pieces anyway).

Rodrigue's most recent sculpture (above) stands 8' high, is surprisingly light, but very stable.
