"This
silkscreen illustrates a transformation. A child paints with the innocence
of youth. An adult paints with the knowledge of age. All of my art has
been based on my youth and childhood experiences. From my Cajun upbringing
in south Louisiana to the blue dog legend of the loup-garou or Cajun werewolf,
my art reflects the evolution of my life. In this print, I combined child
art from around the world with my adult, yet child-like, expression of
the blue dog to show that it is the artistic language of youth which carries
me in adulthood. By the same token, it is the universal language of art,
particularly spoken through the innocent brushstroke of a child's hand,
which crosses political, religious, and geographic barriers, creating
an unintended, yet obvious, expression of unity and peace."
