OAKTREES AND CAJUNS

For many years, the admirers of George Rodrigue's Cajun Series have asked for prints of these works. However, a copyright dispute restricted the artist's ability to make prints from these paintings. That dispute has been resolved, and the artist now has the freedom to reproduce his Cajun works in print form. Although he does not anticipate printing a Cajun collection, he has developed an idea to make some of his best-known works available on a temporary basis.

This year the renowned art book publisher Harry N. Abrams (New York) will publish a retrospective, The Art of George Rodrigue, featuring 280 paintings spanning 45 years of work, and enlightened by an analysis written by art historian and critic, Ginger Danto. This will bring unprecedented national attention to Rodrigue's Cajun works, and it will show the link and evolvement to the Blue Dog Series and even the new Hurricanes.

It is the anticipation of this book which prompts this very special offer.

For the first time in more than ten years, George Rodrigue's famous Aioli Dinner is available in print form. Unlike previous lithographs of the painting, this print utilizes the most advanced silkscreening and color-matching techniques available to the artist today, enabling him to produce a high-quality print which far surpasses his Cajun posters of the past.

Over the next year, Rodrigue will choose three more of his best-known paintings (one additional from the Cajun series and two from the Blue Dog series). These paintings are featured prominently in The Art of George Rodrigue (due fall 2003). This is a rare opportunity to own several classic Rodrigue images. For many, it is the Aioli Dinner which defines Rodrigue as a Cajun artist and launched him towards a marvelous career.
