Rollin' on the River with George Rodrigue December 3-6, 2004 The river trip experience on board the American Queen was wonderful for all. Everyone was able to absorb Rodrigue and his art on a personal level, and truly understand how he sees his own work. Travelers witnessed first-hand the artist creating, and speaking about his art. The Rodrigue Studio staff was on board having a great time mingling and making new friends, as well as manning the on-ship gallery. One stop included the Louisiana Governor's mansion in Baton Rouge, where Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco showed guests the mansion's Rodrigue collection. Evening events, including a Mardi Gras night, kept the entertainment flowing. When the ship's piano player quit for the night, there was always someone to take over while everyone sang along.
Another evening included musical entertainment from New Orleans legend Deacon John and his band. If you missed the 2004 trip, don't worry - we're already planning for 2005. Just be sure to book your trip early! |
